London Day 1:

Day 1 London Friday 20th December 2013:

Before collecting my luggage, I asked for directions before making my way out of Heathrow Airport.

I then headed towards the tube station. I caught the tube from Heathrow Airport to Russell Square on the Piccadilly Line.

Transport to Russell Square:

After arriving at Russell Square I made my way to the Contiki Basement:

The Contiki basement is the main hub for Contiki Trips leaving London which has luggage storage, Contiki Staff and travel resources.

I decided to store my luggage at the Contiki Basement.

I then explored London for the next few hours to pass time before checking into the Royal National Hotel at 2pm

I chose to stay at the Royal National Hotel as it was where all Contiki trips leaving London depart from and I didn’t have to worry about getting lost in the morning!

The Royal National Hotel can be a bit daunting for a first time traveller as its quite big and finding your room for the first time is a bit of a maze but once you get use to the layout you’ll be fine.

Below is a room card for my stay at the Royal National Hotel which I kept with me at all times for security and to help find my room easier with the map on the back:

At 2pm, I checked into my room at the Royal National Hotel for the next 2 nights.

I spent the next couple of hours settling into my room and relaxing from such a great day of exploring London

At 6pm I was feeling quite hungry after exploring London so I went down to the lobby to find somewhere to have some dinner.

I found the London Pub which is located inside the Royal National Hotel.

It was typical British pub, I made my way inside and had some fish and chips for dinner.

After such a big day of exploring a brand new country I headed to bed as I was feeling quite jet-lagged and wanted to get my body clock use to the new time zone and rested for another day of exploring London in the morning!

Safe Travels

Campbell 🙂
