Friday 14th July 2023 Austin to San Antonio:
Day Sheet For San Antonio:

This morning after a great 2 days of exploring Austin, we checked out of our hotel at 9am and took our bags to the coach ready to depart for San Antonio at 9:30.
As we hit the road Nicole, went through todays itinerary which included: a rest stop in Gruene Texas, A Lunch stop in San Antonio’s Market Square, A walking tour through San Antonio including free time at The Alamo, before checking into our hotel in San Antonio and having a free night to explore San Antonio.
We arrived at Gruene Texas at 10:30
I decided to go exploring along the main street and discovered some really cool shops.
I found this really interesting shop The Gruene General Store:
https://www.gruenegeneralstore.com/
This was such an interesting shop with candy, ice cream, and homemade fudge!
This shop was such a unique find and something different I had been hoping to experience while in America!

Once we had all spent a lovely time exploring Gruene we made our way back onto the coach towards our next destination San Antonio Texas!
We made our way to San Antonio and arrived shortly after at 12pm.
Once we arrived in San Antonio we had free time to explore before our included lunch at La Margarita at 12:30pm
I began walking through market square and loved the mexican influence here in San Antonio!
I found some really great shops here with lots of souvenirs celebrating San Antonio.
As you can see below the market square was so colourful with flags and market stalls!

After a lovely time exploring the market square we all met at our lunch stop at La Margarita.

We made our way inside and Nicole found our table which was a long table for all of us to sit together.
The artwork on the walls of the restaurant looked absolutely amazing definitely made it feel really authentic!
I decided to order a frozen prickly pear margarita and tacos for lunch!
This was such a fun lunch experince in San Antonio I would definetly recommend coming here if your looking for an amazing authentic culinary experince while visiting San Antonio!

Once we had finished our amazing lunch we made our way outside and followed Nicole as we learned all about the history of San Antonio as we walked towards the Alamo.
We arrived at the Alamo at 2pm
After our walking tour finished at the Alamo we had free time to explore before meeting up at the coach at 4pm.
A group of fellow travellers decided to go inside and explore the Alamo.
There is so much history here at the Alamo commemorating the Battle of the Alamo in February 1836!

Once we had finished exploring the Alamo our group decided to find a bar for a drink to cool down as it was over 38 Degrees celcius outside!

After cooling down we met up with the rest of the group at the coach at 4pm and made our way to our accommodation in San Antonio for the night.
We arrived at our hotel accommodation at 5pm.
Our hotel accommodation in San Antonio was Holiday Inn Express and Suites Downtown Market Area.

I had made plans to meet up with some fellow Australian travellers and explore the San Antonio River Walk at 7pm.
I ordered an uber at 7pm from the lobby of the hotel and got dropped off at the river walk.

The riverwalk is such a lovely area with restauraunts and bars as the river winds through walkway.
I met up with my fellow Australian travellers and we walked around and found a great place for dinner.
We found a place called Cafe Ole which had a great vibe.
We arrived at 8pm.

We made our way inside and the server found us a table.
We started by ordering some cocktails for the table.
Fun fact Cafe Ole is famous for its 80 oz margarita which we ordered and it was absoluely enormous I have never seen a cocktail this big in my life !
I decided to order some tacos for dinner which were so declious and filling!
We had a lovely dinner here at Cafe Ole getting to know each over great food and amazing Margaritas.

After an amazing dinner we went exploring around the river walk and found this really interesting live music/ piano bar called Howl at The Moon.

The highlight of the night was when they played Don’t Stop Believin and the whole bar sang along!
After such an amazing day exploring San Antonio, our group ordered an uber at 11pm and got dropped off at our hotel accommodation to get a goodnight sleep before travelling to Houston tomorrow.
San Antonio you have so much charm, culture, history and amazing food and drinks!
