Day 3 Edinburgh Monday 6th January 2014:
After a great night sleep I started my day by making my way downstairs to the hotel’s breakfast bar and enjoying a lovely scottish breakfast at 8 am.
At 9:30 am I started my 3rd day in Edinburgh by walking from my hotel to the Waverly Mall to do some shopping, which was located a short 2 minute walk from my hotel.
As I walked through the Waverly Mall I found some amazing gift shops.
I purchased souvenirs and gifts to remind me of this amazing time I had spent exploring Edinburgh!
After purchasing some scottish gifts, I went exploring to find a famous gift shop called Cranachan & Crowdie which sold homemade shortbread Emily had recommended I visit to buy some famous shortbread!
After a short 10 minute walk from Waverly Mall I found Cranachan & Crowdie which was such a cute little gift-shop with so many types of scottish shortbread as well as homeware gifts including decorated coffee mugs, candles and whisky glasses!
The people that work here are super friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend visiting if you want to find some amazing homemade shortbread from Edinburgh!
After stocking up on shortbread I walked back to my hotel where I arrived at 11:30 am to store shortbread in my room before going out to do some more exploring to find somewhere for lunch.
As I walked through Edinburgh I came across this great looking cafe called The City Cafe which had an american diner vibe and decided to have lunch at.
I made my way inside and found a table before being served and ordering a Key Lime Pie Boozy Shake to drink, a serving of Chilli Cheese Fries and Sizzling Fajitas for lunch.
As I waited for my order to come out I looked around at the amazing decor it looked exactly like an american diner with a karaoke machine, newspaper clippings and even a Elvis Presley Statue what an amazing place something I never expected to come across in Edinburgh!
As I enjoyed such an amazing lunch it felt like I was eating in an american diner not a little cafe in Edinburgh!
I would definitely recommend this cafe if your wanting to try something totally unique while in Edinburgh.
After such a amazing dining experience I walked back to my hotel where I arrived at 2 pm and decided to spend a couple of hours relaxing in my room, as I was feeling a bit tired after all this exploring in Edinburgh over the past 4 days.
At 6 pm after spending some time relaxing I went out for dinner at a restaurant I had researched while relaxing this afternoon called The Lioness of Leith which had only recently opened in December 2013.
After walking to Lioness of Leith which took about 30 minutes I was greeted by the such a friendly waitress with a super cute accent!
The friendly waitress showed me to my table and I ordered a Sunshine on Leith cocktail while I browsed the menu and decided what to order for dinner.
After a short time the friendly waitress returned and I ordered a plate of Nachos to start and The Bohemoth Burger which consisted of 3 100% Scotch Beef patties, layered with crispy bacon, cheese and chilli in a Brioche Bun.
As I enjoyed this amazing dinner I loved how the modern art and hipster touches brang this Victoria Style british pub back up to date.
After such an amazing dinner at The Lioness of Leith I walked back to my hotel where I arrived at 8:30 pm.
I spent the rest of the night relaxing in my room and making plans with Emily to spend my final day in Edinburgh together before departing for Australia on Wednesday.
Safe Travels
