Day 9 Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park Thursday 7th September 2017:
This morning after a goodnight sleep we had an early breakfast at 5 am.
After breakfast we boarded the coach at 5:30 am filled with excitement as viewing Uluru at sunrise was the Australian experience everyone was most looking forward too!
We made our way into Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park where we arrived at the sunrise viewing area at 5:45 am about 15 minutes before the sun rose.
As you arrive at the sunrise viewing area to view the sunrise, a good idea is to find a great location a bit away from the sunrise viewing area if you want to get a great collection of photos without getting crowded by other tourists and their cameras!
A fellow English traveller Jenny and myself decided it would be a good idea to walk down the walking trail to the bottom of the viewing area away from the many tourist flocking to the top viewing area to get a great photo.

The view at the bottom of the viewing area is quite amazing because there’s hardly any trees or bushes blocking the amazing changing colours of Uluru.
The view of Uluru at sunrise is an amazing breathtaking view!
It was such an amazing once in a lifetime experience!

After taking many amazing photos of Uluru, we made it back on the coach to make our way to the start of the Uluru Base Walk.
We started the Uluru Base Walk at 7:30am and were given 3 hours to complete the walk which takes you all around Uluru which is 10.2 km in distance.
As you walk around Uluru it makes you appreciate what an enormous natural landmark and the reason that its featured on postcards and tourism films to promote Australia to the world!
The Uluru Base Walk is pretty much flat all the way around.
The Uluru Base Walk is the best way to see Uluru up close because you can see how different Uluru is from the distance where you can’t see the many colours seeping through the rock from the harsh Australian weather.
The Uluru Base Walk took 2 ½ hours to walk around which was only a ½ hour before the cut off time so maintaining a steady pace is important to make sure you can make it all the way around in the allotted time.
As we waited for everyone to finish The Uluru Base Walk we shared our favourite memories from experiencing Uluru at Sunrise!
At 10 am when everyone had completed the Uluru Base Walk,we boarded the coach and made our way back to our accommodation for free time for the rest of the day before leaving for our Uluru Sunset Champagne Sunset at 5:30pm.
Most of the group relaxed at the accommodation during free time.
I went for a walk to the Resort Town Square in Yulara for lunch before spending time relaxing and writing in my travel journal.
At 5:30pm we boarded the coach and made our way into Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park Sunset Viewing Area.
Everyone got dressed up as tonight would be our final night before everyone went their separate ways, most of the group were continuing onto a new Contiki on the East Coast while 7 of the group were heading back to Alice Springs the following day.
We arrived at the Uluru Sunset Viewing Area at 5 pm and started by taking lots of photos as the sunset over Uluru.

We started taking photos with everyone with Uluru in the background to celebrate all the amazing memories we had made on Contiki while Mark set up the champagne and snacks.

After getting our glasses of champagne, we decided to do a group photo to celebrate the amazing trip and all the amazing memories we had created over the past 10 days!

Meeting such an amazing group of people made the trip such an amazing life experience and making lifelong friendships makes you realise how amazing life is and how much I’m going to miss these amazing group of friends so much!
Having these amazing photos with new friends in front of Uluru was such an amazing way to end this life changing trip together!
After having so many amazing photos with lifelong friends while drinking champagne we hopped back on the coach and arrived back at our accommodation to have a final farewell at the bar.
We had an amazing final farewell with lots of photos, drinking and dancing while listening to a live band play amazing hits from the past and present, which was the perfect way to farewell this amazing group of friends we have made so many unforgettable memories and lifelong friendships with over the past 10 days!
After such an amazing farewell we went back to our rooms to get a goodnight sleep to recover from such an amazing day at Uluru!
Viewing Uluru at Sunrise and Sunset was such a amazing experience and its hard to put into words how incredible it was!
Uluru was an amazing travel experiences that will stay with me forever and did not disappoint!
Uluru is such a unique Australian experience that I would recommend everyone gets to experience once in their life!
Safe Travels!
Campbell 🙂
