Day 5 Katherine to Tennant Creek Sunday 3rd September 2017:
This morning after a goodnight sleep we made our way to the restaurant at 7:30 am for our included breakfast.
After breakfast we boarded the coach at 8:15 am and made our way towards Tennant Creek.
As we made our way towards our first stop of the day our Trip Manager Mark explained our itinerary for the day which included: Visiting the Mataranka Homestead, visiting the famous Mataranka Thermal Pool in Elsey National Park, having a lunch stop at the famous Daly Waters Pub, before making our way towards our accommodation in Tennant Creek and having an included dinner at the Chinese Buffet restaurant.
We arrived at our first stop this morning Elsey National Park at 9:15 am which is where the famous Mataranka Thermal Pool are located.
The Mataranka Thermal Pools are a naturally created thermal pool which have an amazing aqua blue colour.
Located in the middle of the outback its quite amazing to think these pools were created by nature in such in isolated area of Australia!

After taking some amazing photos and swimming in the Thermal Pools we boarded the coach at 10:30 am made our way towards our lunch stop for the day at the famous Daly Waters Pub.
After a 2-hour drive from Mataranka Thermal Pools we arrived at The Daly Waters Pub at 12:30 pm
The Daly Waters Pub is oldest pub in Australia!
The Daly Waters Pub is a unique Australian Pub, where people from all over the world can hang personal items to leave a piece of them at Daly Waters!

There are so many items hung up such as photos, licences, hats, clothing and old passports to name a few.
The Daly Waters Pub is a iconic Australian pub everyone who visits Australia should experience!
After enjoying an amazing lunch at Daly Waters Pub, we boarded the coach at 1:30pm and made our way towards our accommodation in Tennant Creek.
As a way to pass time our Trip Manager organised an Australian Trivia game which had 20 questions about all things Australian.
We teamed up with One Australian and One Non Australian per team to help each other out with the trivia.
I was quite amazed how much the Non Australians knew about Australia!
After our trivia game had finished we stopped at a outback roadhouse at 3:30 pm to break the long coach journey up.
The drive from Katherine to Tennant Creek is the longest drive of the tour and the longest drive of any tour Contiki does in Australia!
It was a great day to catch up on some sleep or mingle with fellow travellers.
After a 2 hour drive we arrived at our accommodation for the night in Tennant Creek at Eldorado Motor Inn at 5:30 pm.

After checking into our rooms, we made our way to the restaurant for our included dinner at the Eldorado Restaurant at 6:30 pm.
This was quite an experience the first time I have ever had garlic bread and hot chips served with Chinese!
After dinner we all hung out in one of the rooms having a few drinks and playing the who I am game.
Most of the group decided to have an early night to recover from such a long driving day and be rested for a long day of exploring Alice Springs tomorrow.
Safe Travels!
Campbell 🙂
